Mother Teresa Women's University named after a legend of our times was established in 1984
under the Tamil Nadu Act 15, dedicated solely to the women's cause through education, it is unique
with no parallel in the world. Its major focus is on teaching, research, monitoring and consultancy services towards equal
status for women in society.
The Vision
The University is envisaged to grow into an institution
off international standard, facilitating staff exchanges and collaborating researches with other Universities in India and abroad. Welfare
of the rural women, destitute women and women in impoverished state, besides furthering the advancement of learning and prosecution of research in
Women's Studies, are the major pursuits of the University, symbolizing the lofty vision of Bharathi's concept of "Sari nigar Samanam"(Towards Equal Status).
The Univeristy inheres for itself the missionary zest for elevating the position of women on par with men.
